Concerns arose during the project with regards to design where glare and night sky obscuring light from the outdoor lighting.  Columbia Pulp were careful to choose International Dark Sky Association compliant fixtures and to design with glare in mind.

The photo below was taken this week by Steve Martin and shows what the site looks like at dusk.  Note – that uplight and glare are particularly absent.  It should also be noted that the there was no cost premium for these light fixtures.  Columbia Pulp chose LED’s over High Pressure Sodium or other outdoor lights and that was a slightly higher option.  However, the long life of LED’s and their low power consumption made them the right choice for the long run.
